Passion
Today, Jake and I tried out a new church. It was a very nice service and definitely warranted a return. The pastor spoke about passion: passion for Christ and passion for others. Both are necessary compenents of our Christian faith. He started the service by asking what we're passionate about; what kind of things got us up in the morning. It's amazing the things that ran through my head. Also, the idea of dying for Christ and dying for others came up. Which would be easier? I'd love to look at a situation where I'd have to stand and proclaim my devotion to my Savior and know without a doubt that I would take that stand. That I wouldn't even have to think about it. It's a very sobering thought, and sometimes I'm not sure I'd be strong enough. Other times, I know that God's ways are higher than mine and that if He chose for me to die while standing firmly on His name there would no greater honor. Definitely things to ponder...
While thinking on passion, I remembered what I wrote while I was at SALT in January with the Chi Alpha crew from Point. Some of you might have already seen it, but it was a moment that God was growing a passion for Him inside of my heart.
Empty altar, broken heart
Afraid to stand, fall apart
Restless mind, losing time
What am I waiting for?
Slowly turn, fear inside
All the pain, try to hide
Tears of shame, call out Your name
Here I am
Worship grows, passion drives
Joy renewed, feel alive
Grace undeserving, grace everlasting
Such sweet sacrifice
A new day dawns, a challenge it brings
Heart so open, freely it sings
Passion drives, feel alive
I give it all to You
I lay it at Your feet
You smile at me

The church was a Christian and Missionary Alliance church you can check out their website (not the actual church, but the national site or something like that) at
www.cmalliance.org. It really was a great service and I can't wait to hear the senior pastor preach. Jake didn't really like this picture, so he's anxious to get one over Easter that meets his approval. I'll post one then. Love you!
